Week of Prayer for Christian Unity 18th-25th January 2026
Day One: Sunday 18th January
Please pray for St. John’s and St. Andrew’s churches, for their services, outreach, and young people’s work. And for their staff team, including clergy, wardens, Readers at St. Andrew’s, and several staff members employed by the PCC, for resilience in ministry, unity, love, prayer and faith, as they seek to offer a team leadership in the town-centre parish.
Please also pray for the Lord’s Larder Food Bank in Yeovil: for the 27 loyal Lord’s Larder volunteers that put parcels together in the Food Bank Monday to Friday, pray for them, for good health as they continue to do this important work.
Please pray for all of the 8,500 people in our community who received a food parcel from the Lord’s Larder in 2025 and those receiving food parcels this year, pray for the individuals and families in difficult circumstances, experiencing hardship in many ways, loss of income, debt, family break down, sickness, and bereavement, to mention a few, people who are grateful for the food parcel that helps them through a difficult time , pray that as they receive the food parcel, it is seen as a practical demonstration of God’s love to them, that as the food parcel feeds them and their families.
Day Two: Monday 19th January
Please pray for Yeovil Baptist Church who would value prayers whilst they are in pastoral vacancy. For the church fellowship as they continue to stand strong together. We pray that the Lord will guide and direct the right person to become their new minister in His time.
Please also pray for Yeovil Family Church:
For wisdom and discernment as they seek the Lord about how best to steward what He is doing among them, particularly in how they gather on Sundays and care well for people as the church family grows.
For fruit from seeds sown over the Christmas period, praying that those who encountered the gospel through recent events would continue to reflect, respond, and be drawn towards Jesus in His timing.
For their young people, especially the teenagers, who gather with us from a wide range of backgrounds. They long to see them encounter God personally and powerfully, and to know His love and truth for themselves.
For pastoral needs within their fellowship, asking that God would bring comfort, healing, provision, and hope where situations are difficult, and that they would love and support people well.
For renewal and outward focus for their whole church family — that they would be spiritually awake, led by the Spirit, and increasingly shaped by God’s heart for the community.
Day Three: Tuesday 20th January
Please pray for the volunteers who enable Mary’s Child Baby Bank, which operates from Holy Trinity, to provide support and practical resources for children and families in need and for the children and families supported by the team.
We also pray for our brothers and sisters at St Michael’s Yeovil.
They ask for prayer for those ill in mind, body or spirit and those remembering loved ones lost, and for their parish with this prayer:
Radiant Lord, in this season of Epiphany, we remember the star that led the wise men to your presence. Shine that same guiding light upon the parish, that they may lead others to the joy of knowing You. Make the community a place of welcome and peace, where the lonely find belonging and the weary find rest. Like the Magi, may they bring their gifts, love, service, and faith and lay them before you in gratitude. Fill them with the courage to follow your light wherever it leads, until all hearts are drawn to Christ, the Light of the World. Amen.
Day Four: Wednesday 21st January
Please pray for the congregation of St Mary Magdalene, Barwick as they seek to serve the wider village community while also dealing with the challenges of caring for and maintaining an ancient but precious building.
Day Five: Thursday 22nd January
Please pray for Christians Against Poverty Yeovil that new befrienders will join their team, that the CAP team will take every opportunity to share the good news of Jesus Christ in words and actions, with compassion and grace, relying on the empowerment of the Holy Spirit and for the Lord to continue to sustain their ministry.
Also, for all their clients, that they may know freedom from anxiety, hope for the future and find a sustainable route out of debt, and that those attending the CAP Life Skills course find a supportive, helpful community, demonstrating the love of God in practical ways.
Day Six: Friday 23rd January
Please pray for Oddments Christian Theatre Company, Yeovil:
For God to provide what they need to complete their new building and for success with grant applications.
For their March tour of Amazing Grace to prisons, churches and schools, that the message of faith and hope reaches all who see it.
For divine inspiration in designing the stage set and artwork for a new production.
For safety in travel and prison performances for the acting team and wellbeing for all staff.
Day Seven: Saturday 24th January
Please pray for Yeovil Street Pastors: For God to continue to use them for His glory on the streets of Yeovil and for them to be the best witness they can for Him.
For those who are not well at the moment, and especially for more Prayer Pastors, more Street Pastors, continued good relationships with the Police, Town Council and the Crime Reduction Team, for the Management Team and for the possibility of some daytime patrols.
Day Eight: Sunday 25th January
For St James’ and St Peter’s, Preston Plucknett:
We praise God for the work of our pastoral assistants, ministering to residents, staff and families in four local care homes
We pray for those on the new START course to find and grow in living faith in Jesus.
We give thanks for all those who offer their gifts to the life, worship and ministry of the church.
We pray that we all find an even deeper richness, joy and confidence in prayer.
