March 2021 Update

St James’ reopened for in-person services from Easter Sunday (pre-booking only due to social distancing restrictions limiting numbers) and for private prayer during Holy Week. . Sunday services will continue to be livestreamed on our YouTube channel.

January 2021 Update

The lockdown legislation allows places of worship to remain open, however after taking advice from the Diocese, the PCC has made the decision that we will close both churches for public worship and private prayer during the lockdown.

Sunday morning worship live streamed worship will continue, but it seems the wisest and safest course of actions to reduce gatherings.

Both churches have done an amazing job at being covid safe since March 2020, but with the end in sight (hopefully!) it would be foolish to take any risks now. It’s not a decision we wanted to make, and we will resume private prayer and public worship as soon as we can. We are hoping to set St Peters building up to do live streaming, so that both churches can feel involved.

Guidance on the Coronavirus closures from the Diocese of Bath and Wells and from the Church of England can be found here.

St James has gone online during the lockdown – services are streamed live at 10.30 a.m. every Sunday from our You Tube channel, and there is a regular flow of news, prayer requests and resources to keep us praying and growing together as God’s church.

Please use the resources in the Virtual St James area of our website, and if you would like join the church email or WhatsApp group, please use our contact form. Both our churches have a Facebook page, which is another great way to stay in touch if you are on Facebook.

If you know someone who would value a friendly phone call, or needs any
help with getting shopping and essentials, please do get in touch using the Contacts page.

Watch this video to find out how we’re tackling this as a church community.

We are learning as we go along how to stay in contact with each other, worship together via the wonders of modern technology, and continue to pray and live as the body of Christ through this testing time. In the meantime, if you have any concerns please ring David (422286) or Ruth (579602). God bless you.
