Welcome to St James’ Church.

Whether you’re completely new to church or curious about the Christian faith, have just moved to the area and are looking for a new church family to worship with, or whatever your reason for joining us at St James’, you are welcome here!

We are an Anglican (Church of England) church in the NW of Yeovil, and we love to help people meet with the living God, discover His love, and live out their faith in daily life. We meet on Sundays at 10.30 and 4pm, and in small groups throughout the week. You are welcome to join us at any of our congregations.

If you’re new to the church, we’d love to get to know you. Fill in a Welcome Card at any of our Sunday services, or contact us using the online form. You’ll find information at the church, and on this website, about special events, groups for children and youth, and regular courses for those exploring Christian faith. We also hold occasional newcomers’ evenings to which we would like to invite you.

We’re glad that you are interested in St James’ and look forward to getting to know you better.

What to expect at St James’

Going to a church for the first time can be intimidating, but we’ll make every effort to make sure that your first and following visits are happy and enjoyable.

Will I have to stand up and introduce myself?

No, you won’t be put on the spot, but there will be the chance to meet other worshippers and the church leaders before and after the services. There’s coffee, tea and biscuits at every service!

How should I dress?

We’re proud of our friendly and casual atmosphere. Don’t worry about what you’re wearing – there are no dress codes. Just dress the way you feel most comfortable, whether that’s in a pair of jeans or a suit and a tie.

Where do I park?

There’s a car park behind St James, which can be accessed off Stourton Way, and here’s a handy map. There’s also some roadside parking on Preston Rd. If you park on one of the nearby streets, please make sure that you park with consideration for our neighbours.

Where’s the entrance?

You can enter the church either from Preston Road, or a path from the back car park through the churchyard.

What about children?

Children are welcome at any of our services. The 10.30am service has children’s groups every week, and once a month is an All Age service where families can worship together, with activities available for children in church during the service. We have a creche area with mat and toys at every morning service for small children.

As well as our Sunday school, we have a Messy Church on the 2nd Saturday of every month 10.30-12.30 at our sister church St Peters. St Peters also hosts a number of youth groups throughout the week. We also run four midweek baby and toddler groups. Details of all our children and youth activities can be found here.
