St James\u2019 is the Church of England parish church for the north-west of Yeovil, together with our sister church St Peter’s Westfield. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

We are a community of people who worship and follow Jesus, working out together what that means in the 21st<\/sup> century in our local community. St James\u2019 is based in our beautiful 600 year old building on Preston Road, as well as meeting around the parish in midweek  \u2018cell groups\u2019, meeting in homes to pray, encourage and learn together.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

St James\u2019 is strongly involved in local primary and secondary schools, and runs midweek groups for parents and toddlers as well as a Sunday night youth group. We support a monthly \u2018Messy Church\u2019 at St Peter’s, and have regular events and social groups for adults.  You\u2019ll find St James\u2019 people 7 days a week working in hospitals, running businesses, making helicopters, supporting neighbours, parenting children, and winning pub quizzes (occasionally!).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our beautiful medieval church building is the centre for dozens of family celebrations each year on the occasion of baptism or weddings, and 5,000 people per year use the building. With a growing community, in 2017 we gave the church building a complete refit, with underfloor heating and flexible seating and lighting. St James’ is now warm, \u00a0welcoming and accessible for the increasing number of people who worship here, and who want time and space to pray and seek God.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our ‘octagonal’ Church Room, added to the building 25 years ago is used by a growing number of community groups as well as ourselves. From church fairs, children’s groups and activities, to coffee mornings, social and support groups, it is a very busy space throughout the week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
